Half Marathon – Take 2?

photo from pexels

Really? Am I going to attempt this again?

I can already hear my shins protesting.

I need to up my training. Longer runs is a must – but this means I am going to need to do my long runs as late as possible but also before it gets dark…

In the evening, the last thing I want to do is move my body, let alone RUN. I need to get up early for work, so no time for long runs in the morning.

So I’m going to need to get home, clean, put washing on, fold today’s washing, cook dinner, eat, sort Kiddo’s lunch out, put kiddo in shower then bed, make sure I spend some time with Husband, THEN I can go for a run… all this before it gets dark… riiiiight.

Then there’s strength training… I HATE strength training. But I’ll have to do it. I might set reminders at work to do squats and calf raises at my desk or something…

Still rocking the smoothies every morning. I didn’t binge over the weekend which I am thankful for!

Weight Loss since 2nd Jan = 3.4kg – 7.48lbs

I Binged and Paid for it…

This is my family πŸ™‚Β

It has been so hot here (45 Celsius tomorrow -_-) so we have been going to the beach a bit lately – I LOVE the beach, but don’t like swimming… I know I’m weird.

This week I have been on two runs, and done a HIIT class – shit I hurt today.

I have not lost a gram. niet. nada. nothing.

Last week I donated blood, and it left me feeling so drained, I allowed some bad eating which led to an all out binge. It was clearly bad enough to mess up my weight loss. Oh well… get back up and get on with it.

It’s My Birthday!

I was looking for a cover pic and typed “Healthy Birthday” – this came up… it’ll do.Β

So I’m down 2.7kg (5.94lbs) since the 2nd Jan (14 days) – it feels like forever to be honest.

I was really disappointed with that number until I realised that it has only been 14 days since I startedΒ  – I have lost about 0.5 – 1cm off my measurements too.

Anywho it’s My birthday πŸ™‚ I am donating blood in the morning, grabbing a small piece of cake (maybe), and then going for a massage/spa treatment! The husband bought me a new blender too – very exciting! I’m considering getting curry for dinner πŸ™‚ I don’t want to have an all out binge so I will just reassess how I feel as the day goes on.

My Husband bought me a Magnum Ice cream yesterday, and I couldn’t finish it. It was so sweet – it left an awful taste in my mouth, and it made the back of my throat burn…

I hope everyone is well! I hope you are all on your way to realising your goals – and if not, that’s fine – we’re only 2 weeks in πŸ™‚ Just. Keep. Going.

250 ish Calorie – Broccoli Cheese Soup

photo from pexels.com

FYI, it looks nothing like this photo…

Hey there! Proud to say, I haven’t fallen off the bandwagon yet! I was even good over the weekend!

We were given a giant box of chocolates last week, they are all gone now, and I only had ‘HALF’ of one πŸ™‚ Also we still have Christmas chocolate that I haven’t touched πŸ™‚

Still doing the smoothies for breakfast. I upped my calories a bit the last 3 days which I shouldn’t have – it was all whole foods, but its already affected the weight loss, so I’m going to try to drop them back down today.

Ok, so I can’t quite remember how I made this soup but its FREAKEN DELICIOUS!

Broccoli Cheese Soup; – Serves 3

This is all to your taste, so keep tasting as you’re cooking and change it up to suit – just be mindful of the calories you could add.

1 Head of Broccoli (600grams ish) – 200c

1 Onion – 60c

2 Carrots

1 Garlic clove if you like – 10c

2 Cups Skim Milk – unsweetened almond milk will give even less calories – but it will taste different – 182c

1/2 tsp Mustard powder – 10c

1/4 tsp Salt – 0c

2-3 Heaped teaspoons dry vegetable stock + a few cups water – or 3-4 cups liquid stock – 45c

Ground black pepper to your liking

1/4 cup grated parmesan OR a whole bunch nutritional yeast (to your liking) – 100 ish

Cook – Blitz – Bob’s your uncle πŸ™‚

You could add spinach too – or other leafy greens to bulk it up.

I’m back – and focusing on health this time.

Green Smoothies all the way!Β

The picture above is what I was imagining… me being all hipster with my giant glass jar, and my reusable metal straw.

Below is the reality…

Not so pretty, but it tastes great, and is super good for you!

Today’s ingredients;
2 Handfuls baby spinach
1 tsp greens powder (spirulina etc)
1tsp Maca Powder
9 Cherries
1 Overripe banana
200ml plain coconut water
1 handful of ice and at least 250ml water

I use coconut water to add more sweetness as the greens powder is often overpowering – even with a banana in there.

So I’m back I guess. Focusing on my health, and obviously weight loss, BUT watching someone you love pass away really puts things into perspective.

I don’t want to pass before my time. I want to get old enough to ENJOY my retirement.

Health ‘issues’ – nothing serious, just niggles and ailments have crept back since gaining weight – and they were almost completely resolved when I was super fit in 2017.

My waist at full relax is 86cm! – anything above 80cm is AT RISK of heart disease! This is INSANE – What am I doing to myself? I have a kid, I need to be ALIVE.Β  Not just skinnier but HEALTHIER.

Blood clots run in my family too, so I want to eat more foods that promote blood circulation etc. I might do a post on that?

I gave myself a start date of 2nd Jan (yesterday). So naturally, I binged in the weeks leading up to it and put on extra weight. -_-

I’m only 2 days in now, but so far so good.Β  I’m trying to eat more whole foods, and plant based – but dinner will be the issue with meat, as can’t really afford to cook 2 separate meals all the time, so I have to have a modified version of our main meal.

I’m taking weekly body measurements too We’ll see how we go.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year!
